The NC Adult Care Home Consulting Administrator In-Training Program is designed to give prospective Assisted Living and Family Care Home Administrators an overall knowledge of the adult care home Industry and a unique, practical understanding of how to be a successful Adult Care Home Administrator in the state of North Carolina. The program is designed to promote independence in learning and self-discipline. Upon receiving the applicant registration application and Course payment, the applicant will be able to log in to our portal using their created login and password to access the pre-study materials.
The training consists of a minimum of 20 hours of coursework or study and a minimum of 100 hours of internship training under a preceptor approved by this organization. All hours must be completed after enrolling in the AIT program. The applicant and North Carolina Adult Care Home Consulting LLC are responsible for submitting documentation of the completion of the AIT program to the ACLS office. The applicant must complete their program under the North Carolina Adult Care Home Consulting LLC.

Program Overview
Our AIT program is designed to help you develop the leadership, regulatory, and operational skills needed to successfully manage an Assisted Living or Family Care Home facility in North Carolina.
Total Training Hours: 120
- 20 Hours (2-Day Zoom Training on Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm)
- Join us live for an engaging and interactive session.
- Learn about DHSR regulations, administrator responsibilities, resident rights, staff supervision, facility operations, and the NC Adult Care Home Rule Book.
- We’ll also review the fingerprint process and help you prepare for the State Rule Book Exam, which will be scheduled with the DHSR office after your Zoom training.
100 Hours (Internship Training)
- After completing the Zoom sessions, you’ll complete 100 hours of internship training in a licensed Adult Care Home (either Assisted Living or Family Care Home).
- Your training will be supervised by a Preceptor—an Administrator currently operating a licensed Assisted Living or Family Care Home in North Carolina.
- Training hours are flexible and based on your schedule and your Preceptor’s availability.
Eligibility Requirements
- To enroll in the DHSR Administrator in Training (AIT) Program, applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
